Martin Wietschel studied industrial engineering and management at the University of Karlsruhe. After finishing his degree he added a PhD and habilitation receiving the venia legendi for business administration at the Department of Industrial Management and Industrial Production of the same university. From 2002 to 2011 he was member of the Competence Center Energy Policy and Energy Systems at the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research ISI; since January 2012 Deputy Head of the Competence Center Energy Technology and Energy Systems. Since 2007 Coordinator of the Business Unit Energy Economy, since 2012 Coordinator of the Business Unit Demand Analysis and Projections.
Since 2005 lecturer at ETH Zürich and since 2008 adjunct professor at the University of Karlsruhe.
Focus on energy industry, hydrogen economy, modelling of energy systems, instruments for energy and climate policy, multimedia environmental management, planning and controlling of mass and energy flows. Involved in studies on the impact of electric mobility.
