Frank Mattes is founder and CEO of innovation-3, the leading German consulting network for open innovation. After studying Applied Mathematics in Germany and in the USA, Frank collected more than 15 years of experience in managing projects and innovation. He worked for specialized medium-sized national consulting companies, e.g. HLP Hirzel Leder & Partner, focusing on innovation and project management, as of 1995 increasingly on e-business. In 1999, he moved to Boston Consulting Group holding the position of a company-wide expert for e-business and major projects, amongst others for the e-commerce strategy of an international group or an e-business platform innovation.

Additionally he was working at C-level for an eBusiness firm, an IT firm being responsible for business development and strategic alliances as well as for a Professional services firm. In 2007 and 2008 he designed and implemented an open innovation concept for a company listed in the German DAX equity index concentrating on the third generation of innovation management from then on. As an independent professional he headed platform projects for major German Associations.

Frank is also editor at InnovationManagement, the leading online magazine for innovation management practitioners. He wrote several books, numerous articles and is a frequent speaker at highly prestigious conferences.
